I may not have to pay any royalties, but do I still have the *rights* to do that?
There are a few websites I know of that have free royalty-free photos, one of them being…
http://flickr.com/photos/royalty-free-images/
I want to use some of those pictures to print on products that I’m selling, but don’t want to just snag it and eventually wind up with a lawsuit.
You will need to read the Terms of Use agreements to find out what you may or may not use them for. That varies with the photographer and the company offering the images.

I think that you can use them for personal use, but commercial use is not recommended. Some photos on Flickr have different types of copyrights. Email the royalty-free user and ask permission.

Doesn’t the website specify that? I think that Istock specifies that.

You will have to pay a fee for the rights to use the images on your product.
The copyright is still retained by the photographer … the websites are only theintermediaries
