Im a band photographer , can i sell photos as posters?

I been a band photographer for almost 5 years now , i have a ton of photos that i would like to turn in to posters and try to sell them , maybe even make a calender .
Ive shot for bands like High on Fire , Behemoth , Children of Bodom and such …
Will i get sued by the bands labels ?

What you need are signed model release forms. The model release form gives you, the photographer, the permission to use a picture you took of that person for a particular purpose. You can make it as open ended as you like, but then you will have problems getting the model to sign.

Bottom line is that if you have a model release form, it doesn’t matter what the labels will say. However, the label will likely council their clients not to sign those forms.

This will be the cheaper option in the long run, because if they did steal photos from other sites, they could face legal fees later down the line.

Over the course of your time in the business, you will find that there is a great need for photos of the ocean and photos of telephones. Here you will be able to get the images with a digital camera, and you will even be able to do a few touch ups of that photo before you put it on the market, so there is no reason that you need to be a professional at this.

I have some pretty great photos that i would like to sell. I have heard of some websites that let you upload pictures, and then people view them, and then they pay you to use them. Which web site is the best?

I built a website using Yahoo Small Business and had some success. The only drawback is the limitation of designs, so I may change hosting services when my payment period expires in October. What is the best Website to sell your Photos to?

I have a good amount of stock images since I am an amateur photographer and had heard of websites where you can sell your photos. Which one is they best and is it even worth it? I do mostly landscapes, architecture, and wildlife. Any advice??

shutterstock, istockphoto, and many others. Just google "microstock photography".

Keep in mind that your images will need to be flawless to get accepted. The microstock world has been around long enough that it’s flooded with images. It’s VERY hard to get your stuff in. That being said, if you do manage to produce some excellent images you can make decent money. With a little bit of work you can hope to make $500 a month. It’s not enough to live on but it will buy you a new lens every month or two.
