  • What is the name of the USAF Chief’s cap with upturned peak?

Posted by admin on December 31st, 2009 and filed under belle photos | 3 Comments »

I’m trying to identify and find a usaf type cap with the upturned peak and have no idea what they are called. I think they are USAF Crew Chief type caps and I’ve seen them in many old photos (we have a 1943 T6 Texan) and in the movies (Memphis Belle and Pearl Harbor come to mind).
Any help would be much appreciated.

I believe you are talking about "Garrison Caps" aka "Bus driver caps".
They were worn primarily by officer bomber crewman.
Or you might be referring to baseball caps, worn by enlisted aircrew (and a few officers).
