If I sell some of my photos to a magazine and some to a postcard company do I keep the rights to my photos?

Like can I sell them again to other publications or even publish them in a book of my own?

And can I sell them to stock photo sites like iStockPhoto, Getty & Shutterstock?

First don’t call it selling your images you are licensing. It all depends on what contract you provide with what kind of usage you give. The copyright remains with you as long as you do not sign it away. Read the contracts of any stock agency and see what rights they take away from you. Micro paying stock companies are not worth your time. They take over 80% of the income and you get what ever is left. Most all stock companies will not allow you to license your images yourself wile they have them even if they never end up creating any kind of income for you. Creator aware read before signing any contract. Cross out what you don’t like, ad what is missing. etc. DO YOU HOMEWORK there are pro groups who know the business and will be able to answer your questions. Show me pictures and tell me stories!

Well here is the deal, I would be completely lost without my springers. My first I got in 2004, his name was Farris. We named him after Farris Bueller. He was my everything, he was a black and white bench bred. Never wanted anything more than a day with that dog. I would do anything just to see him again. He was a kennel dog, but we let him out during the day but one Sunday a kid that mows my neighbors lawn, was going up the street and hit my poor pup. He just kept going, went and mowed and if it weren’t for my neighbor he wouldn’t have even stopped. It was too late by the time I got to him. If I could say some words to the douche that hit my baby it wouldn’t be pretty. I hope he knows how much he took away from me that day. Anyways, I moved on and have been adding on to my family. I have three springers now.

Your 3 are VERY different to mine. My dog has the original look of the Springer.
She’s a working dog. Her name is Fern (Cloudhaze Rhedyn) and she is 21 months old!
Even though she is my working dog, she’s my little baby too. I don’t coddle her, or dress her up or any of that malarkey, but I do love her loads.
She’s a great dog. However she does need 4-5 hours exercise a day and we do training for an hour every day. She is still playing games late at night.
She’s a very fun dog and keeps you on your toes. She’s an amazing dog.

Sorry about Farris- you should of yelled at that divvy there and then.

For instance, the autopsy photo of Tupac, JFK, and Lisa Lopes is on line. And the crime scene photos of the Black Dahlia, Nicole Simpson, Ron Goldman, and Sharon Tate are on line as well. Someone even posted a mutilated head of a teenager named Nikki Catsouras who died from a car crash.

I don’t mind it unless it’s for an aspiring CSI but some people just post these for the hell of it. Don’t you think it is disrespectful the family of those victims?

I’m doing research on various medical conditions and diseases and need royalty-free photos to illustrate these. Not illustrations or stock photos for ads or websites, but *actual* photos documenting real patients who suffer from these diseases (shot during examination or surgery and not microscopic shots). Does anyone know of any websites that sells these???

be a vendor at a craft show. contact your local humane society and see if they are interested in purchasing the pics. the humane society is partnered with many greeting card companies.

My college is doing a stage show about Hurricane Katrina. I’m going to be doing projections for the show, and so I will need lots of images of Katrina’s effect on New Orleans and the surrounding areas for a slide show. Does anyone know where I can get heartfelt, free stock photos for this purpose?

I was also wondering if I can use just any photos, that maybe we could get around copyrights because this is educational theater. Anyone know about that?
